Thank you for your interest in the San Diego Asian Film Foundation (SDAFF) internship program. Please carefully review all of the jobs available before selecting the position you feel best suits you. All internships are non-paid, but do offer college credit and outstanding benefits.
Dates & Time Commitment: All dates for listed internships will be tentatively held from mid-January to mid-November 2010 (shorter or longer terms available). Interns are expected to work 10-20 hours a week (hours may vary based on need).

ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN
Job Description: SDAFF is seeking a responsible and detail oriented volunteer to assist in the planning, operations, and administration of daily Foundation functions. Candidates will be provided invaluable job experience in non-profit administration and preparation for a career in the administrative and human resources field. Job duties include assisting Executive Director, Associate Director, Operations Director, and the Marketing Coordinator in general clerical, receptionist and project based work.
Desired Qualifications: Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Detail Oriented, Ability to Meet and greet clients and visitors, Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office, Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing, Setup and coordinate meetings and conferences, Language skills a plus.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE ASSOCIATE INTERN
Job Description: SDAFF is seeking a creative, outgoing, and responsible volunteer to help carry out marketing and outreach activities with San Diego Community Colleges. Candidates will build relationships with Professors and Student Organizations as well as develop and execute a grass roots marketing campaign.
Desired Qualifications: Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits: Grass roots marketing experience, Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Knowledge of Social Media, Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, Attention to detail, Reliable transportation to our office, Ability to work as a leader and as a part of a larger team, Ability to develop and deliver presentations with an emphasis on public speaking, Language skills a plus, Student Organization experience

FESTIVAL PROGRAMMING INTERN
Job Description: SDAFF is seeking Film/Media Arts/Ethnic Studies students, recent graduates, and those interested in film to help festival programmers. Programming interns will help screen submissions and provide coverage for feature and short length film submissions. Candidates will be exposed to the programming process, write articles and blogs, learn to correspond with distributors and help with festival database maintenance and other administrative duties. The position is best suited for someone who is passionate about cinema, holds a strong interest in Asian culture and possesses very strong writing skills.
Desired Qualifications: Our ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; Attention to detail; Strong analytical writing skills; Proficiency with Excel, Word and familiarity with Filemaker Pro; Web/internet savvy: research and social networking applications; Independent and dependable worker; Knowledge or keen interest in Asian American media; Reliable transportation to our office; Very strong interest in film (especially foreign); Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure

JR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Job Description: SDAFF is seeking a creative, outgoing, and responsible volunteer to assist in creating various graphics and designs for foundation related events and projects. Candidates will work on graphic designs for online, print, and physical promotions. They will be given invaluable experience that can be used towards future careers in graphic design, film, and media as well as designs that can be used in portfolios.

Candidates will be exposed to community building, utilizing social networking to support a non-profit organization, learn to write a press release, learn how to communicate with media, and participate in planning for 11th San Diego Asian Film Festival.

SPONSORSHIP/DEVELOPMENT INTERN
Job Description: SDAFF is seeking a responsible and detail oriented volunteer to assist in sponsorship fulfillment and other fundraising activities for the San Diego Asian Film Foundation and Film Festival. Candidates will be provided invaluable job experience in non-profit grant writing, fundraising, and special events planning. Intern would be expected to be able to conduct research projects and draft contracts with appropriate supervision. May also be called upon to draft correspondence and track correspondence with sponsors and members.

Job Description: SDAFF is seeking creative, outgoing, and responsible volunteers to help carry out marketing and outreach activities at Point Loma Nazarene University, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, Cal State San Marcos, and University of California, San Diego. Candidates will build relationships with professors and student organizations, execute grass roots marketing campaigns on a University level, and develop partnerships with on campus housing and other relevant departments.

YOUTH OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Job Description: The SDAFF is seeking a creative, outgoing, and responsible volunteer to help carry out marketing and outreach activities with local high schools and youth organizations. Candidates will be in charge of building relationships with local High School Student Organizations and Teachers, coordinating Youth Day at 11th San Diego Asian Film Festival, assisting with promotions for REEL VOICES Program, and utilizing social networking to promote for Foundation events. Interns get hands-on experience with festival planning, implementation, and community building as well as exposure to the Asian American arts community.
