The heart and soul of every indie film festival are the short film programs. If you've never watched short films, there's no better time than this year! We are offering 13 different short film programs made up of nearly 80 different films, packaged into different themes such as love, family, war, urban tales, youth stories, animation, the Filipino experience, the Chinese experience, and films from the "dark side."

The biggest benefit of watching a shorts program is that you get to experience a handful of films instead of just one. It's like going to a buffet - you'll get a taste of different stories rolled into one meal.

Also, during most shorts programs (especially those scheduled on weekends), you will get to meet and hear from the directors, cast, and crew behind some of the films. This year, we have shorts filmmakers traveling from as far away as Brazil and South Korea to attend their screening...so it means just as much to them to meet you as well.

We're offering at least 3 FREE shorts film programs this year. So come out to enjoy:

• "American Dreams and Reflections" - short films about identity (Oct. 16)
• "After School Special" - short films for the young at heart (Oct. 20)
• "Reel Voices" - short documentary films by local high school students (Oct. 24)
